The Washer Incident

For the "Our Heritage - Forgotten Memories" Challenge on DSP.


Journaling reads:

It started out quite innocently:
A doll dress, a little Girl - and the urge
to be Mama's little Helper.

There I was, with just that little doll dress
to wash. Mama was downstairs and worked. Did I really need to bother her? No! I
could handle it - all by myself!
So I put the dress in the washing machine, I
had to get a chair to open the top.
Just like Mama, I added washing powder,
a lot for good measure.
And now... yes the buttons! I pressed them
....
and the machine started making blubbering noises.
Satisfied, I went
back into the living room and played.

It was quiet upstairs - too quiet.
My mama came up the stairs to check on me...
and was greeted by rolling foam
that came down the steps!
I can not remember her face, but I bet her
expression was priceless.

in tears, repeating over and over again that she just wanted to help and be a
big girl like mama...

Memories like this are really priceless, even
though they are a pain when they happen ;)
if I have a little girl, sometime in the far future, i will still
make sure to remind her to close the top of the washer before she turns it on -
just in case!

Bremen, Germany

I did this for a NSD 08 Celebration Challenge at DSP: Virtual Tour around the World.


I was born and raised in this beautiful hanseatic city, so I had to scrap "home" even though I don't live there anymore.

Pictures are of the Dom and the Rathaus (Cathedral and City Hall), that took in Nov 07.
It also shows you the hospital that I was born in!
It has changed names again since 1978, but my mum and brother both still work there, as I used to from 1996-2002. ;)

Rain

This was inspired by a call for Fall LO's from the Digital Scrapbooking Magazine.
It's my favorite Fall Self Shot, and I tried to keep the glorious colors of fall while still keeping the wistful wishing for spring.
I especially like how the background turned out. It is a blend of two papers and a metal border overlay.

Spring is Here!

This LO is doing double duty for IOTW (Apr 27) and "Deeper than the Date" on DSP.
The challenges just clicked together in my head, and out came something a lot more girly than I see myself ;)

The whole page was made with the purrdy Dreaming of Spring Kit.

Spring is here!
Finally the Sun came back

I was starting to feel
pretty blue,
rain and clouds day in and day out.

It was so depressing
having to order another 500l
of heating oil, even though it is already the end of April..
(not to mention expensive...)

Looking outside and
seeing Sunshine instead of Rain
makes everyday seem so much better,
so much happier...

And even though it makes me feel even chubbier,
I can finally go in the yard with shorts and a top to read and study.

They say you should count your friends and not your foes.
This seems so much easier while the sun is shining...
Sunny Times indeed!

Crocodile Tears

I used only one kit on this one, and only one paper (turned it b/w for smaller pieces).

I thought the Trendy 2 kit fits any Guitar Hero pictures perfectly because the elements look almost exactly like the stickers for the guitar that come with the game ;)

I will probably mirror this and turn it into a 2 page spread with some journaling and smaller pictures on the other page.

When I looked at the Hearts View kit I immediately thought about my friend Anne. The colors are just so her.
So I set out to make a layout that reflects how much closer we are getting by the day, even after being friends for 4 years already.

Magic Moments

I made this for the April Freestyle Fandango at DSP.
I used different backgrounds and a cpl of my own pictures (i.e. snow falling, a branchy lamp, an ice sculpture magician) and blended them together to get the shiny purple background.
Pics in the frames are from around my house in Belgium and from my parents house in Germany.
